Prosus is a fascinating stock. At first glance it looks like just another holding company with a complicated structure. But hidden inside is one of the best investments ever made: a $34 million bet on Tencent back in 2001, now worth over $150 billion.


By buying Prosus, you’re basically getting Tencent at a discount, plus all the other businesses (food delivery, fintech, classifieds, etc.) thrown in for free. Sounds great, right? Well, it’s not that simple. The NAV discount, tricky capital allocation, and China risk all play a big role here.
